Old Dominion University will be partnering with other Virginia universities to start a research center to develop the next generation of electronics.
The University of Virginia says it's creating the Virginia Nanoelectronics Center in cooperation with ODU and the College of William & Mary. The institutions announced the center Wednesday.
UVA says the center will conduct research aimed at producing faster, smaller and cheaper computer device for everything from automobiles to energy-efficient homes. It will be affiliated with the university's Institute for Nanoscale and Quantum Scientific and Technological Advanced Research.
Startup funding is coming from theNanoelectronics Research Initiative, the Virginia Microelectronics Consortium and the three schools.
