Keep in mind

Students receive free breakfeast everyday, teachers pay a $1.00. Studnets pay $1.25 for lunch and teacher pay $2.75 for the same lunch. Is it really right for teachers to pay for breakfeast while students don't. Is it really fair for teachers to pay $1.50 more than a student for lunch. The answer is no. If I had to guess I would say that 75% of the students that are enrolled in the school system recieve free or reduced lunch. Maybe thats why teachers pay so much more. They are trying to make up for those that don't pay. Seems to be the history of Portsmouth in general. You decide.

PPS meal prices

The federal government pays for the students breakfast each morning -- the more that actually eat each day provides more funds from the federal government --- it's not IHOP but it usually isn't bad. Depending upon the items served it's usually worth the amount teachers pay.

Lunch prices for teachers is almost too high --- the meal is a larger portion and the quality has improved over the years due to the school systems wellness policy.

The number of students on free or reduced lunch isn't the reason teachers & adults pay more its the general increase of the individual items (school board meeting 2 years ago). 2.75 is still cheaper than a Extra value meal at McDonalds and honestly better than most people would think.
