Virginia to host discussion of Southern manufacturing

RICHMOND

Gov. Bob McDonnell will join other Southern governors to discuss the region's manufacturing industry.

McDonnell's office said in a release that Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue are scheduled to attend the conference June 12-14 in Roanoke. The three governors will be on a panel moderated by National Association of Manufacturers chief executive Jay Timmons.

McDonnell is chairman of the Southern Growth Policies Board, a public policy group based in Research Triangle Park, N.C.

Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond President Jeffrey Lacker also is scheduled to speak, and other participants include representatives from Altria Group, Williams Mullen, Norfolk Southern, Huntington Ingalls Industries.
