Training allows sailors to give career guidance

Posted to: Military Norfolk

NORFOLK

Twenty-three sailors joined the ranks of the Navy's career information professionals earlier this month after graduating from the Center for Personal and Professional Development's four-week career counselor course at Norfolk Naval Station.

Topics covered in the course include active-duty and post-retirement incentives, opportunities and benefits; techniques on how to counsel sailors; and career-related programs.

"Your job as a career counselor - to know the answers and guide sailors through their careers - has never been more important than now," Capt. Chuck Hollingsworth, CPPD commanding officer, told the graduates at a ceremony June 17.

Congrats new NC's

Remember, in balancing the Needs of the Navy with the desires of the Sailor, to give the Sailor 60% of your effort and the Navy the other 40%. The Navy will thrive come what may, but the quality of life for that Sailor will be influenced by the work you do for him/her.
NCC (SW/AW) (Ret.)
