Tackle from Fredericksburg picks Va. Tech

BLACKSBURG

Virginia Tech football's summer recruiting binge continued Friday when offensive tackle Adam Taraschke of Fredericksburg committed to the Hokies during a return visit.

Taraschke isn't a high-profile prospect - his other scholarship offers were from Old Dominion and Ohio - but the 6-foot-6, 265-pound rising senior impressed Tech's coaches at a one-day camp on July 9, prompting an offer three days later.

The Hokies were in need of linemen and Taraschke became the second last week and third overall from the Class of 2012 to pick Tech. Perhaps even more notably, Taraschke is the Hokies' 23rd commitment in this class, tying Tech with Temple for the most pledges in the country.

Miami has 22 commitments, while Texas A&M and Michigan each have 20 and Texas and LSU have 18 apiece. Virginia's 17 pledges are third-most in the ACC, followed by Florida State's 14 and Boston College, Clemson, Duke and Maryland with 13 each.

ESPN.com's early recruiting class rankings have the Hokies at No. 19 in the country and the Cavaliers at No. 24. Florida State, Miami and Clemson all rank among ESPN's top 10 classes.

Lineman from Fredericksburg

He will be at ODU or somewhere else after 1 year. As hard as linemen are to find if ODU and Ohio were the only two after him he probably is a good guy but not a D-1 player.
