Connect all the major malls and military bases, this would help with traffic.

Would welcome a "mapquest"

Would welcome a "mapquest" type app for using light rail from any point in the HR area. For example, if someone works at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard but lives in Ghent, say on Redgate Ave., what will that person need to do to successfully utilize The Tide for commuting during the work week? That person would type in their TO/FROM addresses & the TIDEQUEST search (feel free to use my moniker) results would include parking, any necessary bus, and of course, The Tide route in a step by step explanation with text & map features. An estimated time for the entire travel could also be included.

There must be an IT savvy person working for The Tide that can create my suggested feature.

I live in Portsmouth & would love 'get there from here'.

1) Go Tide! 2) Later hours

1) Go Tide!

2) Later hours are needed. There should be a sweep train that runs at 2:15 on weekends and once at 12:00 during the week. This would service those of us who prefer to use the train from VB for the entertainment in downtown. Obviously the current set up just made seeing a show at the Norva impossible after 2 beers.

How do we find out....

How do we find out when the last train leaves a particular stop for its last run of the night, from Downtown to Newtown Road?

Parking??

Does anyone know where to park near the station at Colley and Brambleton??

across bambleton on colley the new Public Health Bldg. Parking

Lot on the river side. that's the nearest I can figure...

next Phase

I am not a city official or planer, but the HRT needs to talk to ODU and the Navy base in Norfolk to get some funding to get the tide out there, offset costs. I have been telling my wife this whole time, they need to go to P-town, go under the river and if they only go to the main street or right at the port, that will be much better then the tunnel and an alternative to the ferry. I live in VA Beach and would love to see this come to our neck of the woods, but those who are shortsighted and wont paying the $5 a gallon coming soon won't have it, so lets make it work in Norfolk, getting this to areas that want it, to P-town and when My office moves 2 miles from door,a s planned, I can ride my scooter and laff at those who oppose. Go Tide!!

I completely agree

about the shortsighted ones you speak of. Did you notice in the picture the protesters were all grumpy old guys. People afraid of change are the ones destroying our country. They're so worried about somebody spending a buck, do they not realize the way our society works, you have to spend a buck to make a buck. If this weren't true nobody would pay to go to college. I think it would be awesome to hop on the train one day and be able to make the choice to go down to the beach or into downtown Norfolk. I guess we just have to wait for all the old closeminded people to die before that will happen.

Further more

I work at the newtown stop, but my wife will be riding to cut our monthly gas budget down $100 or so from her normal commute. I can drop her off in the morning and get to my office in minutes. Her office may be springing for the monthly train pass, which would be $30 cheaper a month for them since they pay for her parking spot at Macarthur. With our savings we buy more, go out to eat etc. That's trickle down economics that actually works. I hope this is the beginning. It sux they way they mismanaged the money for this thing, so there is something for these angry old men to point at. Our public transportation is a joke around here, this is a step in the right direction.

hjmore...get a grip

they want to keep their advertising honest and call it Beach front property then they can pay for it. As a local they sell all these terrible ideas to destroy our local make up and they say these businesses will lower our taxes when its ridiculously expensive to live here. So let the city council who slice up the ocean front for their own gain pay for it off the profits they are skimming. Mayor Burgermeister and his crew are out to screw locals again. Let the hotels and ocean fronts pay for this, a flat fee to all who can pay for this, or just let the fricking beach erode, isn't that what our Godless Darwinian culture believes in??

you wrote this comment about sand replenishment....and now you are "for" tax spending for the few....not..LOL
