NORFOLK

A man accused of shooting two co-workers at a mattress company was ordered Tuesday to a state hospital for mental illness treatment.

Circuit Judge Junius P. Fulton ordered Donald C. Bullock to undergo treatment to restore his competency for trial.

According to police accounts, Bullock entered Paramount Sleep before noon on May 9 and opened fire. Two employees were injured.Police said Bullock, 52, was also an employee. Bullock, of the 3500 block of Mangrove Ave., is charged with two counts of malicious wounding and three felony weapons violations.

A court-ordered mental evaluation of Bullock was conducted last month. A psychologist found him cooperative and responsive, but wrote that Bullock had paranoia and delusional thoughts, according to an evaluation filed with the court. The psychologist recommended that Bullock receive further treatment to allow him to cooperate with his lawyer.

Bullock was scheduled to see a psychiatrist before he was arrested, according to the evaluation. His family was concerned about his mental state and made the appointment for him, the evaluation says. However, Bullock declined to go, the evaluation states.
