Va. Beach tweaks lines in new redistricting proposal

VIRGINIA BEACH

After hearing concerns from residents around the city's courthouse, Virginia Beach council members have come up with another redistricting map proposal - the 10th in less than two months.

This map, labeled "Council Liaison Alternative 2, Amended D" on the city's website, www.vbredistricting.com, would keep neighborhoods around the courthouse in the Princess Anne District.

Earlier this week, residents from those neighborhoods told council members that they associate with the more rural issues of the Princess Anne District and didn't want to be placed in the more urban Rose Hall District.

The City Council is scheduled to vote on a redistricting map at its Aug. 23 meeting.
