Weather, fires force delay in mosquito spraying

Posted to: Environment News Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH

Because of smoke from wildfires in the area and possible adverse weather conditions, aerial mosquito spraying is being delayed until 4-9 p.m. Thursday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced.

The spraying is scheduled for the Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area, adjacent city properties and the Churchland area.

People with allergies are advised to remain indoors, and beekeepers are asked to keep their bees covered.

If conditions are not favorable on Thursday, spraying will take place on Friday, the Corps' release says.

No need to spray

If the smoke is as thick as it was in VB today, it will keep both mosquitoes and bees at bay.
