Chowan County hires contractor to collect debris

Posted to: Hurricanes - Storms News Weather North Carolina

CHOWAN COUNTY, N.C.

Chowan County officials have hired a contractor to pick up vegetative storm debris along roads maintained by the state.

The first pass begins today and a second pass will happen in seven days, a county news release says.

Crews will collect only vegetative debris. If other materials are mixed into the piles, they will not be collected.

Residents living on private roads and in subdivisions must move storm debris to the state right-of-way for collection or haul it to a county convenience site.
