JAG Corps school marks 60th birthday

Posted to: Military

The U.S. Army's Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School at the University of Virginia is observing its 60th anniversary.

A ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 4, with Teresa A. Sullivan, the university's president, and Army Judge Advocate General Lt. Gen. Dana K. Chipman to speak.

More than 5,500 people train each year at the JAG Corps' regimental home in Charlottesville, the only military law school in the country accredited by the American Bar Association, according to a news release. Army JAG officers go through the programs offered there, as do many officers from other branches of the service and lawyers from government agencies and foreign armies.

The ceremony is open to the public. Details: (434) 971-3279.
