PETA headquarters vandalized with fish, crabs

Posted to: Crime News Norfolk

NORFOLK
The Norfolk headquarters of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals was vandalized this weekend when someone dumped dead fish and crabs outside the building.

PETA employees found the foul mess Sunday. Fish guts also had been smeared on the building’s windows and doors.

PETA spokesman Adam Miller said a report was filed with the Norfolk police. PETA is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the culprit or culprits.

The building is on Front Street along the Elizabeth River.

Vandalism???

It was only , maybe, littering, at the worst, illegal dumping, and at the best graffiti art. No destruction of property. It was just a mess of some dead animals for PETA to clean up and dispose of. But that's what they do anyway.

PETA has one of the most secure buildings around

It is intriguing how someone could attack the PETA building and get away with it. Years ago I had the honor of working there and not only had difficulty getting entry, even though I had an appointment, but was denied entry to "critical" areas, which I later found out where rooms where they planned their "activities", and did not want me to see their planning. When I asked why there was such heavy security I was told "because we are afraid of attacks". I found that response humorous, but finished my business and was escorted (yes escorted) out to make sure I didn't wander around.

Why posts are deleted while stating FACTS that are on record??

Fact one, peta got caught killing dogs and dumping them into dumpsters in NC! Fact two, the Animal Liberation Front aka ALF, is in fact considered a eco terrorist organization by the FBI! Look it up or go down the street and ask the FBI folks Pilot. Fact three, peta in fact and on record giving money to ALF members legal defense fund a few years back. It made the news, even in the Pilot! The Pilot deleted these comments for no reason. Facts are facts, look in your archives! If fact it is peta that that does things exactly like what is in this story in order to get in the limelight again!

People NOT PETA are offensive to me

Sounds like there are a lot of teapartiers complaining about positive change and encouraging violent behavior.

The problem is people are doing nothing to solve problems, and in many ways causing them, and at the same time complaining about those who active in the fight for justice.

They'd rather things come to end.

I'm ashamed to be an American.

Did you ever ask yourself were the money came from

Think about it, PETA asks for millions to help take care of all animals then turns around and buys a very expensive piece of land and then builds the biggest building they could only to walk away heading for Californian, wonder what is being built there with all the donations. anyway the office in Norfolk has an appraised value of 6 + million. Now that's a waste

Peta is offensive to me

If animals were not meant to be eaten, then why are they made out of meat?

Pilot should be ashamed...

What took place at the Peta building doesn't fit the legal defination of vandalism.:

The intentional and malicious destruction of or damage to the property of another.

The intentional destruction of property is popularly referred to as vandalism. It includes behavior such as breaking windows, slashing tires, spray painting a wall with graffiti, and destroying a computer system through the use of a computer virus. Vandalism is a malicious act and may reflect personal ill will, although the perpetrators need not know their victim to commit vandalism. The recklessness of the act imputes both intent and malice.

Because the destruction of public and private property poses a threat to society, modern statutes make vandalism a crime. The penalties
