Virginia Beach police, in partnership with CINTAS Document Management Company, will shred documents at two locations Saturday.
Residents can bring bills and other documents with sensitive information such as account and Social Security numbers for shredding, according to a police news release. "Shred Day" is part of a crime-prevention initiative aimed at countering identity theft. Police ask that people also bring canned goods for a hunger drive.
Shredding will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m. at Marian Manor, 5345 Marian Lane, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 4560 Princess Anne Road.
