A Circuit Court judge Tuesday sent to prison for six years a former Salem Middle School teacher who exposed himself online to an undercover police officer posing as a 14-year-old girl named "Sherry," the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office said.
Randall John Pilon, 55, formerly of the 3300 block of Waterman Road, pleaded guilty in April to attempted indecent liberties and attempted use of a communication system to propose a sex act to a person younger than 15, according to a news release.
The release said prosecutors' evidence would've been this: An officer with the Kenton County, Ky., Police Department posing as "Sherry" was contacted in an online chat room by Pilon, who went by the screen name "nudistteacher2000." Pilon suggested he and "Sherry" go camping and engage in sexual activities, according to the release. He exposed himself via webcam and offered to buy "Sherry" her own webcam, the release said.
The undercover officer contacted Virginia Beach police, who seized from Pilon computer media "found to contain multiple images of child pornography," according to the release.
Judge William O'Brien sentenced Pilon to 15 years with nine suspended.
