Ex-Norfolk police sergeant admits soliciting prostitute

VIRGINIA BEACH

A former Norfolk police sergeant pleaded guilty Friday to solicitation for prostitution.

A General District Court judge fined Alan Bostjancic $150 and sentenced him to 30 days in jail, with all of the time suspended.

Bostjancic, 55, oversaw the Norfolk department's fugitive squad in July when he was issued a summons on the misdemeanor charge in Virginia Beach. He was placed on administrative duty and retired Sept. 1, according to Norfolk police. He had been with that department since 1983, city records show.

"This was a very embarrassing event for my client," Bostjancic's attorney, Mark Del Duca, said in court. "He lost his family as a result of this."
