Free event in Va. Beach offers tips on finances

VIRGINIA BEACH

The city of Virginia Beach will conduct a free financial-planning program Saturday with workshops on retirement planning, dealing with job loss, homeownership and higher education. The Financial Planning Day program will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

Members of the Financial Planning Association of Hampton Roads and professionals with the Certified Professional Planner designation will be available to offer advice.

The keynote speaker will be Elizabeth A. "Betsy" Duke, a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and a former community banker from Hampton Roads.
