A man who robbed a 7-Eleven at knife-point while he was free on bond in a different case will spend 12 years behind bars, the commonwealth's attorney's office said Tuesday.
James Lee Henley, 32, pleaded guilty in June to robbery, attempted robbery, burglary, two counts of assault and battery of a law enforcement officer, attempted grand larceny, destruction of property and probation violation, charges that stemmed from a series of crimes, prosecutors said.
On Jan. 25, as he awaited trial on the theft charge, Henley robbed a 7-Eleven on Aragona Boulevard, a release said.
On Tuesday, Circuit Court Judge William O'Brien sentenced Henley to 52 years with all but 12 suspended. Henley also is awaiting sentencing for robbery in Chesapeake, prosecutors said.
