A man who took part in a home invasion that included the looting of a frozen lasagna will spend 24 years in prison, a Circuit Court judge ruled Monday.

Angel Luis Arroyo, 22, was convicted in May of armed robbery, burglary with a deadly weapon, wearing a mask in public, possession of a firearm by a felon, using a firearm in a felony and conspiracy, according to a news release from the commonwealth's attorney's office.

Prosecutors said a woman home with her 18-month-old child answered a knock at her door July 23, 2010. Three men, including an armed Arroyo, forced their way inside and demanded money, the news release said. They ransacked the house, making off with a laptop computer, a knife and the lasagna.

Arroyo's codefendants - Dominique Leary and Eric Tennant, both 19 - pleaded guilty to charges related to the crime, prosecutors said. Leary is serving a three-year, 10-month sentence; Tennant is serving a three-year term.

Judge H. Thomas Padrick sentenced Arroyo to 39 years in prison with 15 years suspended, the news release said. Arroyo has prior robbery and attempted robbery convictions in Norfolk, according to online court records.
