It ain't exactly peanuts, but it sure beats corn hole.
Virginia residents were reunited with more than $45,000 in unclaimed cash during the first two days of Suffolk's annual Peanut Festival, city Treasurer Ron Williams said Friday.
He said a booth operated by the Virginia Department of the Treasury offered festival attendees an opportunity to search a computer database for unclaimed money held by the state from closed bank accounts, unclaimed tax refunds and other sources.
A steady stream of inquirers came to the tables throughout the day Thursday and Friday, making it one of the festival's more popular attractions.
"It may be money that belonged to a relative, or it may be something they've forgotten about," he said. "It's been a great way to help them find money they didn't know they had."

Peanut Festival
It's nice to know there was a safe place to find out if there was any money coming to people. So many times it's a scam.
