Virginia Beach police offer document shredding

VIRGINIA BEACH

Virginia Beach police, in partnership with Cintas Document Management Co., will shred documents at two locations Saturday.

Residents can bring bills and other documents with sensitive information - such as account and Social Security numbers - for shredding, according to a police news release. "Shred Day" is part of a crime-prevention initiative aimed at countering identity theft. The event is free, although police ask that people bring canned goods for a food drive.

Shredding will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m. at Marian Manor, 5345 Marian Lane, and from11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 4560 Princess Anne Road.
