“Puppy Love” Multi-Generational Guide Dog-Raising Program launches at Atlantic Shores |
(Left to right) Atlantic Shores Executive Director Eden Jones, Atlantic Shores resident Linda Palminteri (with Joanie), Guiding Eyes for the Blind Regional Coordinator Gina Rose, and Atlantic Shores resident Jack Stokes (with Godrick) kicked off the Atlantic Shores/Guiding Eyes for the Blind Puppy Love Program in a special welcoming ceremony on October 27 at the Atlantic Shores Retirement Community.
The event introduced the community to two 10-week old black lab puppies that wil be raiser by Atlantic Shores seniors -- ultimately providing visually impaired individuals with guide dogs to dramatically change their lives. This unique program will also partner with Ocean Lakes and Corporate Landing elementary schools in Virginia Beach, which will open their hearts to the puppies with special curriculm, and puppy field trips to the school as part of their socializaton training.
