Dates like today's - with a single digit repeated six times - come along just once a century. Lucky? Unlucky? Depends on whom you ask.
At one end of the spectrum: people choosing today for special events (newspapers report a rush on weddings and scheduled C-sections).
At the other: "11-11-11" - released in theaters today (demons escape Hell, we're all doomed, yada, yada).
Archives do tell us that the last time this alignment rolled around (in 1911), a freakish weather event known as the Great Blue Norther seesawed temperatures so much that many cities broke both their high and low records in the same day.
Apparently, however, Hell's gates stayed closed.
