The dish The 50/50
The cost $10.99
The eatery Woody McGees Barstro, 4356 Holland Road, 222-6775
Why I liked it In a world of pricey gourmet specialty burgers, The 50/50 at newly opened Woody McGees thoroughly impresses, yet comes in at under 11 bucks.
Located in the "Soon to be Infamous Burgers" section of the menu, along with an assortment of other tempting offerings, The 50/50 is named for the ingredients: 50 percent hormone- and antibiotic-free ground beef and 50 percent ground bacon.
The sandwich from chef Travis Lindblad solves the age-old problem of waning bacon flavor due to too few strips on top of the beef patties, and strips that move and shift with each bite taken; with a preponderance of bacon throughout the burger, full-on flavor is achieved.
A ratio of 50/50 seems to be the right mix, too, as tastes from both bacon and beef are equally present and neither seems to overwhelm the other. The added fat from the bacon, too, means added juiciness, which is the hallmark of a burger well done.
The perfect patty is topped with melting cheddar cheese, nestled in a pretzel roll and accompanied with the classic accoutrements of lettuce, tomato and onion. The pretzel roll was a nice twist, and one that gave a deliciously different taste and texture, not found many times with more traditional buns. The sandwich comes with house-cut french fries.

Margaret
Margaret: What a glutonous attitude. Size is not everything. Why not half the size and half the fries for half the price. Fewer calories and fewer carbs and a healthier Margaret. Next time, share it with a friend and it will only cost you half as much. Water is free, reduce the tax and thank the waiter.
I never said I ate the whole
I never said I ate the whole burger..I almost always share a plate or take half home. That includes other resturants that serve huge portions.
like Jewish Mother. They also have 11.00 sandwiches.
50 50 burger
The burger is huge!! and the fries are fresh cut...the picture doesn't do the burger justice!! nice place to eat!
How much?
$10.99 for a burger with frozen fries, plus a soda ($2), plus tax ($3), plus a tip ($3), we're up to $19 for a lunch meal. Out of reach for most people these days. Good luck.
Woody McGee's Barsto - Holland Plaza Shopping Center
Good call Patrick! A co-worker and I recently had lunch at the new 'Woody McGee's'. Although many of the menu items looked appetizing, we both wanted to try the '50-50' - and it was outstanding! Our server was excellent and the owner even stopped by to check on us and get our input. Additionally, the place looks great, even upscale, but the ambiance is warm and inviting with a 'locals' type of feel. It's difficult to find a place that hits on all cylinders - nice job 'Woody'.
Woody McGees 50/50
I live around the corner of this newly opened Woody McGees. First off congrats on opening! I went to the prior place The Big Apple once..food was not that good and was pricey. I just read the review of the 50/50 seems like a good burger. I will be flat out and honest..in a world of restaraunts and eateries and Town Center at your back door 10.99 is pricey for a burger. Heck I don't see but about $2.50 worth of food in the picture. The burger probably rocks. I am not trying to be a stalewart here, but you are pricing yourself into an early folding. I want the restaurant to do well. I support local restaruants, but I do not see 10.99 as a draw when Town Center is just up the road and the variety of food in which to be gauged on price wise is vast. Just
Still trying to figure out
Still trying to figure out how one can hold their own next to or close to A Plaza Azteca.
I agree
I too live right next to this place and honestly by the looks and size of that burger, I would rather go to Hardee's and pay $6 for their burger then pay $11 for one of these.
