BAE Systems unit receives task order from Navy

The Navy has awarded a Chesapeake-based unit of BAE Systems Support Solutions a task order worth up to $132 million for communication work supporting military operations around the world, the Rockville, Md.-based company announced Thursday.

Work at the 80,000-square-foot Chesapeake facility includes installation and testing of prototype communications devices for small patrol boats, Humvees, armor-laden SUVs and other vehicles and systems for U.S. special operations forces, the Navy and other government agencies.

The three-year task order, under the SeaPort-e contract, includes a one-year base term plus two option years. The work will be done at government sites around the world and managed at BAE Systems offices in Chesapeake and Maryland.
