HATTERAS, N.C.

Any remaining Hurricane Irene storm debris that wasn’t picked up from the right of way in the roads in unincorporated Dare County will have to be taken to the county dumping sites in Buxton and Manns Harbor.

The final Irene storm debris pickup was Tuesday on Hatteras Island and Oct. 21 north of Oregon Inlet, a news release from Dare County said.

Any debris placed in the right of way now will be in violation of the county code and violators will be subject to a $200 fine, the news release said.

For more information about the dumping sites call Dare County Public Works at (252) 475-5880.
