Frosty Collards |
The collards in my garden got a kiss of frost this November morning. Rumor has it that collards are sweeter after the first frost, but I learned otherwise. Mr. Grandy (owner of Grandy Greenhouse and Farm Market in Grandy, NC) informed me that the first frost was usually preceded by rainy weather after a long hot and dry summer. The moisture helped remove the natural bitterness from the collards. Cheers, Phil
