HAMPTON

Hampton University senior Kendyl Crawley-Crawford has been named a 2012 Marshall Scholar.

The scholarship is considered one of the most prestigious postgraduate programs for Americans and pays for study at any institution in the United Kingdom. Crawley-Crawford, who received the one-year scholarship, plans to enroll in the environment, science and society's master of science degree program at the University College of London. Thirty-six scholars were selected.

The program was founded by a 1953 act of Parliament, and is named for the late U.S. Secretary of State George C. Marshall to "express the continuing gratitude of the British people to their American counterparts," according to the Marshall Scholarships website.
