Posted to: Business

Lumber Liquidators' CEO, Jeffrey W. Griffiths, plans to retire as of Jan. 1, the hardwood flooring retailer announced Monday. Robert M. Lynch, the company's president and chief operating officer, will replace Griffiths. Lynch also will replace Griffiths on the board of directors.

Griffiths will keep working for Lumber Liquidators, based in Toano, Va., through March 18 to smooth the transition. The former CEO of the video game chain Electronics Boutique, Griffiths joined Lumber Liquidators in 2006 and took it public in 2007.

Lynch became president and COO in January. He was president and CEO of Orchard Supply Hardware, a division of Sears Holdings Corp. Previously, Lynch worked for The Home Depot Inc.
