Posted to: Sports

The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) named U.S. Sailing Team AlphaGraphics' Anna Tunnicliffe the recipient of the 2011 ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year, the most prestigious recognition in the sport of sailing and the second time in her career she has won the award.

Tunnicliffe, a three-time sailing All-American at Old Dominion and a 2008 Olympic gold medalist, was presented in Puerto Rico with the distinct World Sailor trophy by King Constantine II of Greece and a specially engraved Rolex timepiece.

Tunnicliffe's team won the U.S. Olympic Team Qualifying Regatta last month, is currently ranked No. 1 on the ISAF World Match Race rankings and won the overall gold medal for the 2010-11 ISAF Sailing World Cup season after collecting three World Cup medals.

She also won the award in 2009 and is 1 of 3 Americans to earn the honor.

Anna

She is not only the top sailor in the world, but at ODU she was a top student and played in the prestigious ODU Student String Quartet. Quite an accomplished young woman! Way to go, Anna.
