CHESAPEAKE
There should be few surprises in Chesapeake for Tuesday's general election, with the exception of the single contested race that involves just one precinct in Greenbrier.
Those in the Waterway precinct will choose between Republican Ron A. Villanueva and Democrat Andrianne L. Bennett in House of Delegates District 21. The precinct encompasses the eastern side of Kempsville Road from Butts Station Road north to Centerville Turnpike along the Virginia Beach border.
Also new for this election will be the redistricting of precincts. Some gained more polling places, others lost a few, and some new ones were created.
Only two candidates will be on every voting ballot in the city: Faye M. Mitchell, running unopposed for the Clerk of Court, and Thomas Brian Jones, seeking re-election as one of the city's two representatives to the Virginia Dare Soil and Water Conservation District board of directors.
The conservation district is hopeful the second seat will be filled by a write-in candidate to the nonpaid board.
