AAA offering free rides, vehicle tows for intoxicated drivers

Posted to: Holidays News

AAA Tidewater Virginia, in conjunction with Hoffman Beverage Co. and Anheuser-Busch, is offering free rides home for intoxicated drivers. Their vehicles also will be towed to their homes for free.
The "Tow to Go" service, which does not require AAA membership, is available now through 6 a.m. Jan. 1. Drivers, bartenders, restaurant managers, party hosts and friends can call (757) 631-1700 and ask for a "Tow to Go" for a driver.
The service is available only to intoxicated drivers, not their passengers, and provides only a one-way, one-time ride, AAA said. It is limited to the Hampton Roads area. Reservations are not accepted.
This marks the eighth year that AAA Tidewater is offering the service during the holiday season.

Good for AAA

To bad VBCC doesn't do something like this! That could be a service for the locals seeing how the tourists left town!
What a great service AAA is doing to keep us safer!

Why they do just 1 trip...

Hey driver! Forgot my cigarettes...can we go back?

Free advertisement at it's

Free advertisement at it's best.

I don't understand where you

I don't understand where you get 'free'

If they're sponsoring it, that means they're picking up the tab. That's not free at all.

Free rides are what they are

Free rides are what they are all about. Sorry reading between the lines was such a strain for you.

My goodness, support for

My goodness, support for getting drunk drivers off the roads and you have to be negative about it? Hampton Roads has no mass transportation for late night and taxi prices from downtown Norfolk to Virginia Beach are almost $ 50 each way. I think it is incredible that they are offering this. Please keep your comments to yourself, the drunk drivers they get off the roads could be the ones that would kill someone.

Negativity is in the eye of

Negativity is in the eye of the beholder, and you bear that torch, not I.

The word best is a supportive adjective, did the word advertisement set your bells to ringing ? Maybe the holiday duress has you om the attack.

Oh Pamela... many people on

Oh Pamela... many people on pilotonline's comments are negative about everything. You could give away $1,000,000 and they would find a way to complain about it.

Try reading it again

Try reading it again Richard, this time in a positive light.

Wasn't too much a stretch for you I hope.

Why not HRT?

They offer free rides for everything else, why not now?

Thanks to AAA Tidewater Virginia, Hoffman Beverage Co. and Anheuser-Busch for actually providing a service for people that need it.
