Biz Buzz: Score one for the little guy, er, tree

Posted to: Business Norfolk

Buzz saw many elaborate office Christmas decorations for the cover story, but our favorite was this tree.

Located in the occupational health department at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, the stark tree bent by a single ornament evoked Charlie Brown's beloved holiday special.

Patti Pishioneri, a nurse in the department that cares for EVMS students, faculty and employees, put up the simple tree in about 90 seconds as two other nurses watched, nodding approvingly.

"We wanted to keep it low key but sentimental," Lisa Lee, a nurse and department director, wrote in an email. "We work in a culturally diverse atmosphere and just wanted something simple and inclusive (except for Ravens fans) but recognizable."

Two of the three are from Pittsburgh, hence the Steelers' Terrible Towel tree skirt.

Buzz, however, cannot endorse this substitution for Linus' blanket. Nor will Buzz reveal our favorite pro football team.

Merry Christmas, Hampton Roads.
