Police have charged a Chesapeake Correctional Center inmate in two bank robberies last month.

Chesapeake police arrested Stephen Thomas Clark, 39, of Norfolk, in connection with a robbery that took place Nov. 17 at the Wells Fargo bank located at 672 N. Battlefield Blvd. in Cheaspeake, according to a news release from Chesapeake police. Police said the unarmed robber approached the teller and demanded money before fleeing on foot.

After his arrest there, Virginia Beach police charged Clark in a Nov. 8 robbery here, according to a news release Thursday from Virginia Beach police. On Nov. 8, a man entered the Chartway Federal Credit Union at 3841 Holland Road, demanded money and fled, police said the day of the robbery. Officers released surveillance footage of the incident and identified Clark, according to the release.

Virginia Beach police charged Clark with robbery and conspiracy and served him with the arrest warrants at the Chesapeake Correctional Center, where he is being held without bond on the Virginia Beach and Chesapeake charges, a jail official said.

This morning, police also arrested Lauren Lee Stuart, 32, of the 3500 block of Argonne Ave. in Norfolk, on charges of robbery and conspiracy in the Chartway Federal Credit Union robbery, Virginia Beach police said. She's accused of driving Clark from the scene.
