Ex-Virginia Beach worker guilty of embezzlement

VIRGINIA BEACH

A former city worker pleaded guilty Wednesday to embezzlement and was handed a suspended two-year sentence.

Felicia Hoyle was an employee with the Parks and Recreation Department. She was charged with felony embezzlement. She purchased movie tickets on her city card, and when tickets were left over, she got refunds on a personal card, according to Macie Pridgen, a spokeswoman for the commonwealth's attorney's office.

Hoyle's suspended sentence is conditioned upon two years of uniform good behavior, Pridgen said. Hoyle already has paid the restitution of $3,065.

Because she had no criminal history, the state sentencing guidelines recommended she be sentenced to a term of probation with no incarceration, Pridgen said.
