Well...

Well this will really solve their budget problems, more overtime for a government supported private company that bleeds money. Solution, sell it to either UPS or FedEx and let them fire unnecessary workers and consolidate buildings and services.

Also, the USPS is not a

Also, the USPS is not a government supported agency - more like the opposite. The USPS would be operating in the black if not for them having to pay the US Gov't. over 5 billion dollars a year for the past 5 yrs. to prefund future retirees benefits (paying for 75 yrs. over a 10 yr. period). If congress would give back this money and let them pay in a more reasonable timeframe the USPS could survive without shutdowns and layoffs, etc...but without all this money going to the US Gov't., the Gov't. would have a greater financial debt and we know they would not want that!!

Just for your information,

Just for your information, many(if not all)of the employees who will be working on Saturdays during the extended hrs. are not on overtime; their normal work schedule is 5 days a wk. and Saturday is one of those days. Also, some, if not all of these offices offering extended hrs. at the window units are open on Sat. anyway, they're extending their hrs. for customer convenience - does UPS or FedEx do this??

Hours

How can you go back to regular with one week before Christmas. I am hoping that these locations with have additional staff on hand to handle to handle all the customers since during the rest of the time of year they might have one or two at some locations on Saturdays and I have seen it take over an hour to get through the line with only one or two clerks working.
If you are going to have extended hours make them extended hours like from 9am to 4pm on Saturdays or have more them open. As it is now you have to drive all over town to find a post office open on Saturday. Sometimes to try to save time you look at the web site to see which one's are open on Saturday and come to find out they are closed on Saturday.

moore foolishness

Just recently we see a story about the USPS losing money and planning to close offices. Now this story about longer hours just because people are to lazy to get packages mailed on time. In the immortal words of Charlie Brown AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

You got it

If they can’t find time to get to the post office during normal hours, they need to cough up 27 bucks for UPS.
