IRS seeks Virginians who didn't get their tax refunds

Posted to: Business Consumer - Retail News

The Internal Revenue Service said Tuesday that it is seeking to send checks to Virginians for undelivered tax refunds totaling more than $2.1 million. The agency said it has been unable to deliver the checks because of errors in mailing addresses.

Slightly more than 1,900 residents of Virginia are due refunds, averaging more than $1,100 per person.

Virginians who believe they are due a check should go to the agency's "Where's my refund?" tool, at www.irs.gov/individuals, or call 1-800-829-1954. To avoid problems with receiving returns, the IRS recommends that taxpayers file returns online and choose to receive refunds by direct deposit.

Any time the Government wants to give you back money. . .

...start smelling for a rat, there's a trap therein.

Just asking

What happens to these checks if the Post Office goes belly up?
