Gary McCollum, senior vice president and general manager of Cox Communications, is the new rector of Norfolk State University's Board of Visitors.
McCollum was selected by the board at its Friday meeting. He has been a board member since 2007 and was reappointed in 2009. His term runs through 2013.
Attorney Henry Light will serve as vice rector. Light, who has been on the board since 2004, was reappointed this year for a four-year term.
McCollum replaces Ed Hamm, who stepped down as rector but who remains on the board.
