WINDSOR
A small aircraft crashed in Bertie County in a field near the intersection of U.S. 17 and N.C. 45 at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
The man injured in the light-plane crash is Mike Taylor, according to his neighbor Mike Adam.
Taylor reportedly nipped a pine tree and crash-landed on Adam's property. Taylor was being treated at Pitt County Memorial Hospital for broken bones, lacerations on his face and possible internal injuries, Adam said.
There were no passengers.

Questions for The Virginian-Pilot
According to the writer, "Taylor nipped a pine tree". Exactly what does that mean? How did the pilot of this little airplane manage to nip anything while he was attempting to land?
The point is.......
The newspaper, many years ago, was one way to show children examples of good English. Now, the newspaper is full of slang and vulgarities and the content must be censored by good parents! It is shamefull! You 'thumbs downers' probably curse in front of your children and care nothing about their educations.
Flying
I have been flying general aviation aircraft for 35 years locally and I have been a paramedic for 25 years. Flying a small airplane is the least of my worries. The most dangerous part of flying is the drive to and from the airport.
Airplane crashes are unusual and so they are reported more aggressively. I personally have worked only one fatal plane crash in all my time in EMS where as I have had as many as 3 fatal car accidents in a single shift.
The amount of small aircraft
The amount of small aircraft and helicopter crashes reported in the Pilot alone precludes me ever stepping foot into one.
But that's inconsequential in lieu of this guy's present injuries, I hope he pulls through okay, this was a bad looking wreck on Wavy news.
