DOWNTOWN
Downtown Streets – Through mid-January, watch for intermittent alternating lane closures under flagger control between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. for maintenance work in manholes by Dominion Power. Affected streets are: 200, 300 and 400 blocks of St. Paul’s Blvd., the 300 block of Market St., the 300 block of Cumberland St., the 300 block of Charlotte St., and the 400 and 500 blocks of Bute St.
Bank Street – Through September, the sidewalk and bus parking lane northbound on Bank Street between East Plume Street and East City Hall Avenue will be closed. Pedestrians will be detoured to the westbound sidewalk, and tour buses will be detoured to East City Hall Avenue. A parking lane northbound on Bank Street between East Main and East Plume will also be closed intermittently for dump truck staging for building demolition.
Bank Street – Between now and mid-December, the outside northbound lane of Bank Street will close for streetlight pole removal.
West Bute Street – Through mid-December, the sidewalk and parking lane at 312 West Bute will be closed for utility work.
Hampton Roads Transit Light Rail – Intermittent traffic stoppages and delays may occur along the light rail route for maintenance through mid-February.
East Main Street – Watch as portions of East Main between St. Paul’s Boulevard and Boush Street will be closed for resurfacing and crosswalk construction through late November. Accommodations, to include a repaved, smooth surface, will be in place for upcoming special events.
East Plume Street – Look for sidewalk and parking lanes to be closed along Plume between Atlantic and Bank streets through the end of December for storm drain installation.
East Plume Street—Through June, the sidewalk on East Plume westbound between Court and Bank streets will be closed. Pedestrians will be detoured to the eastbound sidewalk on the south side of East Plume. Access to MacArthur Memorial will be maintained.
St. Paul’s Boulevard – Through mid-December, watch as a vehicle lane and sidewalk at St. Paul’s at Main Street is closed for utility work.
East Water Street – Through mid-December, the lane and sidewalk of East Water between East Main Street and St. Paul’s Boulevard will be closed for utility work.
CITYWIDE
12th View Street – Through mid-December, flaggers will maintain traffic on 12th View between West Ocean View and Little Bay avenues while installing street lights.
West 23rd Street – Watch as West 23rd at Debree Avenue is under flagger control through late December for track removal.
West 25th Street – Through the end of December, West 25th on the east and west sides of Colley Avenue will be under flagger control for aerial cable installation.
36th Street –Through mid-July, 36th Street between Colley and Newport avenues will be closed for utility work.
43rd Street –Through December, traffic will be reduced to one lane eastbound intermittently on 43rd Street between Powhatan Avenue and Hampton Boulevard for building construction.
Bancker Road – Through early December, one lane on Bancker Road between Tidewater Drive and Chesapeake Boulevard will be closed under flagger control for utility work.
Berkley Avenue – Though early December, one lane on Berkley Avenue between Ligon Street and I-464 will be closed for utility work.
East Bayview Boulevard – Through mid-December, there will be a travel lane closure on East Bayview Boulevard between Devon Street and Willow Terrace under flagger control for utility work.
West Bayview Boulevard – Through late December, West Bayview will be under flagger operation at I-64 for Virginia Department of Transportation bridge painting.
East Brambleton Avenue – Single lane closures will occur on East Brambleton at the I-264 underpass through late December for VDOT bridge painting. Work will take place Monday to Thursday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to noon, and Sunday 5 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting.
West Brambleton Avenue – The vehicle lane and sidewalk at the southwest corner of West Brambleton at Colley Avenue will be closed intermittently through the end of January for streetlight installation.
Chesapeake Boulevard – Through mid-December, the vehicle travel lane on Chesapeake between Sunset Drive and Tallwood Street and between Earl Street and Creamer Road will be closed under flagger control for utility work.
Chesapeake Boulevard – Through late December, watch for alternating north and southbound closures on Chesapeake between Avenues F and E during aerial installation.
Chesapeake Street – Through mid-December, there will be intermittent lane closures on Chesapeake from Hillside Avenue to Virgilina Avenue for utility work from 9 am to 3 pm daily.
Diven Street – Traffic on Diven Street at Hedgewood Lane will be under flagger control through late January for utility work.
Eltham Avenue – Through mid-December, traffic will be under flagger control at Eltham and Robin Hood roads for utility work.
1st View Street – Through mid-April, there will be full street closures to through traffic on 1st View between Bearden Road and Tidewater Drive for the 1st View Street Water and Sewer Replacement Project. Access to residences and businesses will be maintained.
1st View Street – Through late December, there will be a lane closure under flagger control on 1st View between Tidewater Drive and Bay Avenue for the 2nd phase of the Mason Creek Gas Renewal project. Access to residences and businesses will be maintained.
Gosnold Avenue – Through mid-July, the intersection of 36th Street and Gosnold Avenue will be closed for utility work.
Granby Street – Watch for alternating lane closures north and southbound on Granby between East Princess Anne Road and East 13th Street for utility work.
Granby Street – Through the end of December, watch for a single lane closure northbound on Granby between 40th Street and the bridge.
Granby Street – Through early January, watch for alternating lane closures on Brambleton Avenue, Granby, and Magazine Lane as needed for installation of traffic control signs and devices.
Granby Street – Through early December, the inside southbound land of Granby between East Little Creek Road and East Admiral Taussig Boulevard will be closed for utility work.
Granby Street – Through early December, the outside northbound lane of Granby between I-64 on ramp and East Bayview Boulevard will close for the installation of aerial cable.
Granby Street – Through early January, the vehicle lane and sidewalk of Granby between Granby Park and Suburban Parkway will be closed for transformer installation.
Granby Street – Through mid-January, the outside southbound lane between Suburban Parkway and North Shore Road will be closed for utility work.
Granby Street – Through late January, the outside northbound lane between East 22nd and East 24th streets will be closed for utility work.
Granby Street— Through late February, two vehicle travel lanes in the same direction will be closed on Granby over Mason Creek between Bayview Boulevard and Forest Lawn Cemetery for a phase of the Mason Creek Culvert Rehabilitation project. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times.
Hampton Boulevard – Through early December, watch for southbound alternating lane closures on Hampton at Bolling Avenue for utility work.
Hampton Boulevard – Through early December, watch for southbound alternating lane closures on Hampton at Magnolia Avenue for utility work.
Hampton Boulevard – Through early December, watch as outside northbound lanes of Hampton between Beechwood and Glendale avenues will close for the installation of aerial cables.
Hampton Boulevard – Watch for alternating lane closures on Hampton Boulevard between B Avenue and Admiral Taussig Boulevard traffic signal work through the end of November.
Hampton Boulevard – Through early December, watch as the northbound outside lane of Hampton Boulevard between Woodview Avenue and Forrest Avenue will be closed for the installation of aerial cable.
Hampton Boulevard— Through late December, watch for alternating lane and sidewalk closures on Hampton Boulevard between the bridge and West Little Creek Road for utility work.
Hampton Boulevard – Through late December, watch for a single lane closure southbound between Admiral Taussig Boulevard and D Avenue for utility work.
East Indian River Road – Through the end of December, East Indian River at Wilson roads will experience alternating lane closures while aerial cables are installed.
East Indian River Road – Through late January, the outside westbound lane of East Indian River between Berkley Avenue and Lansing Street will be closed for aerial installation.
West Indian River Road – Through late December, West Indian River will be reduced to one travel lane under flagger control at Clifton Street from 6:30 p.m. until 6 a.m.
Kane Street – Through mid-December, Kane will be closed between Chesapeake Boulevard and Evelyn T. Butts Avenue. Motorists will be detoured to Kennedy Street and Johnston’s Road.
Llewellyn Avenue – Through late December, Llewellyn at Westover Avenue will have alternating lane closures for the installation of electrical service.
West Little Creek Road – Through the end of January, the outside eastbound lane and sidewalk of West Little Creek between Tapley Avenue and Diven Street will be closed for street light installation.
North Military Highway – Through mid-December, the southbound shoulder lane of North Military, south of Longdale Drive, will be closed for aerial cable installation.
East Ocean View Avenue – Through mid-December, one lane at the intersection of East Ocean View at Chesapeake Street will be closed for traffic signal service.
East Ocean View Avenue— Through January, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on East Ocean View between Chesapeake and Sturgis streets for sewer line replacement.
West Ocean View Avenue – Through early December, the West Ocean View between Mason Creek Road and Tidewater Drive will be closed. Traffic will detour to Mason Creek to Tidewater to West Ocean View.
West Ocean View Avenue – Through late December, the vehicle lane and sidewalk of West Ocean View between 1st View and Mason Creek Road will be closed for improvements.
West Olney Road – Through mid-December, the eastbound lane of West Olney between Children’s Lane and Colley Avenue will be closed for sign installation. Traffic will detour left onto Children’s Lane, right onto Gresham Drive to Colley.
Park Avenue – Through the end of January, traffic will be under flagger control on Park from Holt Street heading west as street lights are installed in the parking lot under I-264.
East Princess Anne Road – Through mid-December, East Princess Anne will experience alternating lane closures from the NE corner to the SE corner of East Princess Anne at Sewells Point Road for the installation of aerial cable.
East Princess Anne Road – Through late December, the sidewalk at 3300 East Princess Anne will be closed for sidewalk work.
Sewells Point Road – Watch for alternating lane closures on Sewells Point between Avenues F and E for aerial installation through the end of December.
Southampton Avenue – Through May, Southampton will be one way westbound between Colley and Riverview avenues during a utility and streetscape upgrade project. Detailed signs will be posted.
State Street – Traffic will be reduced to one lane under flagger control on State between West Berkley Avenue and West Indian River Road through the end of December for utility work.
State Street – Through early January, the shoulder of State between 324 and Emmett Place will be closed for site improvements.
Suburban Parkway – Through mid-December, Suburban will be closed between Granby Street and Woodfin Avenue. Through traffic will be detoured to Cromwell Parkway via Woodfin and Granby for utility work.
Tidewater Drive – Through late December, alternating lane closures, south- and northbound, will occur on Tidewater from Lafayette-Winona Middle School to the east side of Tidewater at 3502 for aerial cable installation. The intersections at Alsace and Bapaume avenues will be closed.
East Virginia Beach Boulevard – Watch for alternating lane closures through the end of December on East Virginia Beach Boulevard at Mapole Avenue for aerial cable installation.
East Virginia Beach Boulevard – Through early January, the inside lane of East Virginia Beach Boulevard between Covenant Street and Marathon Avenue will be closed for utility work. .
Wesleyan Drive – Through the end of December, lane closures along Wesleyan east of Northampton Boulevard will occur for a VDOT project.
