Police have arrested a second suspect in more than two dozen spare-tire thefts.
Officers arrested Jon Paul Amentler, 44, at a friend’s home Friday evening, Officer Jimmy Barnes, a police spokesman, said today. He’s charged with 16 felonie: 14 counts of grand larceny and two counts of attempted grand larceny, police said today. He also faces two misdemeanor counts of destruction of private property.
Amentler is accused of stealing spare tires from 27 vehicles throughout the city since Nov. 30, police said.
Police also charged Michelle E. McLane, 29, last week with obtaining money by false pretenses. She’s free on recognizance, according to General District Court records online.
Amentler remained in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center this afternoon without bond.
