A 29-year-old sex offender who tried to get a 13-year-old girl to meet him in the middle of the night will serve 22 years in prison, a judge ruled Tuesday.
Jason Jermaine Pye was found guilty in August of using communication systems to facilitate certain offenses against children.
In the end, it was Pye who was lured to a dark, Walmart parking lot on April 16.
The girl's adult sister intercepted Pye's call that night and pretended to be the 13-year-old, juggling calls to police dispatchers as she gave him directions to the Frederick Boulevard store, according to her testimony during the trial.
The woman's name is being withheld to protect the identity of the minor.
She testified that police followed her to the Walmart store parking lot where she tapped on Pye's car window. He got out and hugged her just before police arrested him.
Pye was on the sex offender registry after being convicted in 2009 of taking indecent liberties and aggravated sexual battery.
Circuit Judge James A. Cales Jr. told Pye Tuesday that he clearly had issues and that he did not know if they would be resolved "through any sentence." But the judge added that he could keep him off the streets.
He gave him 30 years, but suspended eight and ordered him to serve eight years of supervised probation upon his release.

An Unavoidable Attraction
I suspect Pedophiles have a personal history connecting them to their predatory age preference and years of familiarity and concentration that keep their lusts alive, even after many years of incarceration. Because their focus on their prey is visual, IMO, their vision needs reduction to zero to free them of this fixation. Pedophiles and molesters need to see in order to feed their lust, hunt them, abduct or hide them and evade retribution. Act against them now or condemn many more children.

Pedophilia has nothing to do with the gender of the victim or the "visual" of the children. Nor is it about sexual orientation. In fact most identify as heterosexual, even if they abuse boys. It is about power and control. Castration doesn't work and neither would blinding them. It should also be noted that a 13 yr old is at the far end of the range of preference for true pedophiles,who generally speaking prefer prepubescent children, and in many states would not garner a legal label of pedophile. They might still end up on teh sexual predator list though.
