Virginia Beach scraps lofty $3M plan for Atlantic Avenue in favor of less costly options

Virginia Beach is pumping the breaks on plans for an elaborate, pedestrian-friendly overhaul of Atlantic Avenue due to cost concerns. Instead, council members want a taskforce to whittle down the wish list of improvements and come up with a less costly, but "exciting" vision.

Plans to make Atlantic Avenue at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront more pedestrian-friendly have been temporarily put on hold in order for a taskforce to consider cost-saving options.

Morgan Wood opened Wands Books at 2501 Fawn St. in Norfolk in October. He described the store as a “cozy-moody-maximalist-bohemian bookshop with not a single matching bookshelf or fixture.”
