Veterans now have two new locations in Virginia where they can find assistance claiming their benefits.
The Virginia Department of Veterans Services has opened offices in Virginia Beach and Alexandria. The openings on Thursday increases to 22 the number of veterans benefits offices operated in Virginia by the state agency.
The offices are intended to assist veterans with their paperwork and tracking claims. Representatives will also assist them if they appeal a claim.
In addition, veterans' affairs representatives can help with other issues, such as pension claims and veterans compensation.
The Beach office is in Pembroke II at the Pembroke Office Park, 287 Independence Blvd., Suite 120. For more information, call (757) 552-1884.

Hopefully this will help
My disabled father, a WWII veteran has been waiting for well over a year for needed benefits. My mother is stressing about her financial affairs since my father now requires around-the-clock care; this is expensive. From everything I've read he is entitled to the benefits we've applied for on his behalf. It's a terrible system and I think it's criminal that my father, a decorated naval officer that risked his life in WWII (in the midst of the conflict)should wait an unbelievably long time for help. The attorney I consulted stated (his words) that his experence has been that the VA delays and delays hoping the veteran will die before they have to pay out the additional benefits. I doubted this originally, but now I wonder....
State VA assistance centers
I receive excellent help from the state veterans assistance center. Things didnt happen overnight but they did happen in a timely Manner. I am constantly amazed by the Cantor mind set, you know " I want what I want when I want it." Sorry people you are not the only person with problems, you have to wait your turn. From what I have heard, most problems are self inflicted.
just what we need
an office run by va that is suppose to help with claims and appeals that they routinlly deney claims and take months and years to give the benefits that are despertly needed by our veterns.i would be leary about any help they offered and run as fast as possible to a vetern srevice officer from DAV,AMERICAN LEGION or VFW to get help.they are for you and not an organization to try and keep you from getting benefits.
the va can cut your benefits in a lot of cases if you try to get more so just beware before visiting the henhouse that the fox owns!!!!
Veteran's Service Officer
Here in VB, this is the same service officer that has been regularly conducting business at my VFW post and been of significant assistance to our membership. The Commonwealth was finally was able to obtain a centralized office for her, but she will still be providing regular visits to the local veterans' service agencies in the area. She's an excellent case worker and it's a great benefit to her and all she assists to have her own office.
Read It Again
This office is run by the Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Veteran's Services not the Federal Government's Veteran's Administration.
