Good news: It’s going to get warmer this week.
High pressure continues to dominate our weather today. Skies are mostly clear and the temperatures are a bit milder than what we experienced over the weekend. Highs today will reach the mid to upper 50s for most of the region.
The next system to swing through will bring more interesting weather by mid-week.
Highs Tuesday continue to be mild, but a significant warmup is expected Wednesday as highs climb into the lower 70s. Scattered showers are expected Wednesday into early Thursday as a cold front clears the coast.
High temperatures Thursday will stay in the lower 60s. Even cooler air will settle in for the weekend with highs in the lower to mid 50s.
And the early forecast for Christmas?
It should be cloudy with a chance of showers. The high should be in the low 50s.
Virginian-Pilot writer Phil Walzer and WVEC-TV meteorologist Craig Moeller contributed to this report.
