Will the real Tarzan chimp please stand up? Sinead O'Connor's 16-day marriage
Cheetah, is that you? The famous chimp that swung alongside Johnny Weissmuller in the 1930’s Tarzan flicks was pronounced dead yesterday at the tender old age of 80. But since the death of Cheetah, suspicion has grown about the age, and authenticity, of the chimp in question. It’s not unusual for a chimpanzee to live to be between 40 and 60 years old in captivity, but 80? Unfortunately, we may never know. The owners of the Suncoast Primate Sanctuary in Palm Harbor, where Cheetah lived, said all of the documentation proving Cheetah was the real deal burned up in a 1995 fire. Read it here.
Sinead’s 16-day marriage It seems whirlwind marriages are all the rage these days. Sinead O’Connor, the Irish singer-songwriter best known for the 1990 hit “Nothing Compares 2 U,” told a British tabloid that she couldn’t handle seeing how miserable her husband was. “It felt like I was living in a coffin. It was going to be a coffin for both of us, and I saw him crushed,” she said. Oh, and there was that whole wild hunt for crack in Las Vegas that kicked their holy matrimony off in the first place.
