All-Stars help Admirals grab tie for first

WILKES-BARRE, PA.

All-Star forwards Cory Conacher and Trevor Smith each had three-point games and the Norfolk Admirals beat the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 5-1 at Mohegan Sun Arena on Wednesday night.

The Admirals (21-11-0-2) moved into a tie for first in the American Hockey League's East Division with the Hershey Bears.

Conacher, Richard Panik and Radko Gudas scored first-period goals. Conacher tallied his AHL-leading 21st goal of the season in the third period. Mike Angelidis scored Norfolk's final goal.

Earlier Wednesday, Conacher and Smith, along with defenseman Mark Barberio were named to the AHL's Eastern Conference All-Star roster.

The All-Star Classic takes place Jan. 29-30 in Atlantic City, N.J.
