A 22-year-old former youth-ministry worker was indicted Monday on charges of taking indecent liberties with a 15-year-old boy who was a member of the church's youth group.

Elizabeth Lee Beckett was charged in an eight-count felony indictment by a Suffolk Circuit Court grand jury.

A complaint filed by city police accused her of exposing herself and having oral sex with the teenager at a Suffolk residence on several occasions between 2009 and 2011. Beckett told investigators the sexual contact was consensual, according to the complaint.

She told investigators she was a youth-ministry intern at the time at Bethel Temple Assemblies of God, which has congregations in Chesapeake and Hampton. She said the boy was a member of the youth group, the complaint said.

Phone calls to the church late Monday afternoon were not answered. A recorded message said the switchboard was closed.
