Ferris Bueller will be in a Super Bowl ad for Honda?

Posted to: NFL Super Bowl

Updated Monday: Honda has released the full commercial. You can see it at the bottom.

_____

That's what the website jalopnik is reporting.

If you watch the Super Bowl for the ads as much as the game, this could be something worth sticking around for during commercial breaks.

The video below shows actor Matthew Broderick reprising one of his most-famous lines from the 1986 film "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," followed by a few distinctive notes of the movie's music and the date of the Super Bowl.

When the clip hit the web Thursday, speculation began that it signaled either a remake of the movie or a commercial.

Jalopnik says it's the latter, citing "a source familiar with Honda's operations," and says the following: "The source also added that the spot was going to mimic much of the original film, except this time prominently featuring Hondas. The big jump the two valets do in Cameron's dad's Ferrari? We hear this time it's going to be a Honda CR-V."

It would be nice to see Ferris' sister Jeanie not have to drive what we believe to have been a Pontiac Fiero any more. No wonder she's so cranky.

Honda hasn't denied the latest report and says more information might be released on Monday, Jalopnik says.

With the Chicago Bears not in the big game, we wonder who Ferris would be pulling for this time: the New York Giants or the New England Patriots? He'd probably be more interested in figuring out a way to crash some swanky Super Bowl party.

And, oh yeah, he'd definitely be calling in sick to work the following Monday.
