Photoblogging Beloff

David Adam Beloff, a photographer who grew up in Hampton Roads, captures many moments with his camera. David's work spans from artsy black & white images to the colorful rockstars that perform at various venues in Hampton Roads. See more of his work on his Website.

Finally, traditional jazz makes its nightly appearance in Hampton Roads at HAVANA NIGHTS JAZZ & CIGAR BAR

HAVANA NIGHTS JAZZ AND CIGAR BAR definitely takes our region to new heights with the opening of their perfect little jazz club. There is no doubt that this is the premiere place to see & hear live jazz every single night. Personally, I have been craving a spot like this and lo & behold, here it is right in my backyard: Town Center, Virginia Beach!

My plan is to become a regular at HAVANA NIGHTS because it can help to provide a perfect evening. The spot is composed of three elements: A cozy Caribbean-inspired restaurant, a powerful & private cigar bar & a sweet jazz club which doubles as a recording studio. What a find! Don't let the name HAVANA NIGHTS JAZZ AND CIGAR BAR  fool you though, there is no smoking in the jazz club or the restaurant. Only upstairs in the private, members-only cigar bar can one light up, and they have provided a top-of-the-line ventilation system for their smokers. Honestly, they spared no expense to make this place one of the best venues in all of Hampton Roads. My kind of hotspot for sure!

As they built out HAVANA NIGHTS, the decision was made to excavate underneath ground level for the placement of the jazz club. This action, along with state of the art electrical equipment, makes the jazz club an ideal recording studio. With options like this, HAVANA NIGHTS will undoubtedly bring the best jazz musicians in the industry right to our doorstep. Thank goodness! We are long overdue for some real jazz, and who better to hire as music director than local jazz great John Toomey? This Maestro will certainly bring us the best talent in the industry...in fact, he's already gotten started! This weekend, HAVANA NIGHTS hosted the incredible jazz saxophonist/flutist Gary Thomas. The audience and I were blown away by the beautiful & powerful jazz music which sifted through our whiskey glasses. Ahhhhhh...
