Hampton police arrest two in church burglary case

HAMPTON

Police have arrested two suspects wanted in connection with a church burglary, according to a news release.

St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, located in the first block of East Mercury Boulevard, was burglarized early Thursday morning.

Alec Grey Sassi, 18, of Newport News, and a 17-year-old juvenile from Hampton have been charged with breaking and entering and grand larceny.

The burglars entered the building through an unlocked door and took an undisclosed amount of money and electronic devices, the release said.
